Hunting the Hunter

In April 1980, KGB major Vadim Shalamov suddenly disappears. On a day off, the Shalamov family planned to go to their dacha; after that, no one has seen them. On Monday, Vadim, his wife, and their four-year-old daughter failed to appear at their workplace and, respectively, at kindergarten. Neighbors and acquaintances had no idea where they were. Shortly before his disappearance, Shalamov took part in an operation to identify a spy engaged in radio-technical intelligence, which could be connected to his disappearance. Shalamov is declared wanted throughout the Union. Major Alexey Kostrov handles the search and believes he has found a lead to the missing man, but subsequent events force him to reconsider the direction of the investigation.
