Starting Over 5: How I Spent My Summer

A science fiction writer is mysteriously transported from the 21st century into the mid-1970s and finds himself in his own body—only in the time of his youth. With this second chance, he decides to build his life differently and try to protect his loved ones, without aiming to “save” the USSR, which he considers an impossible project. The most obvious thing for a writer to do in the past is to write—and he gets to work on books. Unexpectedly, he receives recognition: he fulfills a long-held dream, writes a war novel, and then the story expands into a whole cycle about war. There’s no magic involved—only a sharper memory leftover from his previous life. He lives an ordinary life: works, writes, falls in love, and carefully watches how the fates of his relatives change. Meanwhile, in the country, events begin to unfold that never happened in his first reality. The continuation of the story is in the fifth book of the series “Start Over Again.”
