Theft

Washington, 1910. During a reception at the respectable home of Senator Chalmers—Howard Knox, his ideological opponent, tries to convince the guests that property ownership is nothing more than theft of a substantial portion of a common worker’s earnings. At the same time, a real theft has taken place: documents compromising the magnate Anthony Starkweather, one of the pillars of American civilization, have been stolen. In the case, Margaret appears to be involved—Starkweather’s daughter and the wife of Senator Chalmers—who has sided with Howard Knox.
