Petr Stepanovich Ryabov, an elderly billionaire nicknamed “the bun king” in the Moscow region city of N, unexpectedly becomes a victim of progress and wakes up in 1553. Instead of familiar modernity—Rus’ of the 16th century: on the throne sits Ivan the Terrible, Kazan was taken literally days ago, and somewhere ahead the shadows of the coming Time of Troubles are already thickening. Ryabov himself is no longer a rich man and owner, but a young Greek cook named Gelyos, who must not only survive but also make his way in the harsh era. However, a clever person can find a chance in any circumstances—especially since the Rus people, probably even then, wouldn’t mind a good pastry, even if éclairs are new to them.
P.S. There won’t be speeches strictly matching the 16th century here, but I’ll try to convey the mood of the time.
