The Dragon's Oath, or The Willful Bride

My name is Mirra Blackrock. Not long ago I was a nothing—my parents-magicians used to tremble over me like over a greenhouse flower. And today I’m heading to the Academy of Wind and Storms—the best place to train elementalists!

One detail: it’s a male academy, and as it turns out, they don’t exactly welcome us here, neither as students nor as teachers. Especially one senior student. He can’t stand me—yet I haven’t done anything to him.

And what is that strange tattoo that appeared on my arm? Magic!
