For centuries, its walls have stood as a symbol of the infallibility and power of the Imperial dynasty bestowed by the very Heavens.

Only one thing the Heavens couldn’t forgive or endure: betrayal by the people living beneath them. The Son of Heaven who shelters the deadly truth about the seven-tailed fox will fall in an unequal battle. With the hands of his loyal comrades, a new ruler will mercilessly shake the half-alive Empire, which has gone silent in mortal terror—casting off the parasites that have clung to it and returning hope and meaning to people.
