With a single decree, the Emperor dispensed with two problems at once: too many young mages disturbing the quiet life of the capital and too few mages in the provinces. And by the highest order, those mages were commanded to prove their usefulness through service. So someone had to put out peat fires, someone had to fight the apple codling moth, and someone had to increase the number of penguins on the lands of Franz Joseph. Ivan Koshkin and his faithful companion Bereslav Volotov were sent to the glorious little town of Podkozels’k, once famous for its cheeses and butter—though it’s been a long time, about a hundred years, maybe even two. Since then, much has changed: fields have overgrown, the number of livestock has dwindled, and only one bull remains of a famous breed of elven cows. And even that bull is… with quirks.
But nothing. They’ll manage.
The main thing is to approach the matter with imagination. And with plenty of magic. Who said that quantity can’t replace quality? He simply hasn’t tried!
