Japan, Christmas of 1983. A wealthy industrialist, Kōzaburō Hamamato, gathered friends and acquaintances at his mansion. Guests are amazed by his home—a strange construction with many rooms, slanted floors, and staircases leading to unclear places, plus a tall “falling” tower reminiscent of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
