The novel “The Burden of Power,” released in 2013 and intended for readers over 16, raises the question of whether the “butterfly effect” exists. While we can’t give a precise answer, human imagination is astonishing in its possibilities. In this work, we’re taken to early 18th-century Russia, where Peter the Great begins the process of “industrialization,” which his son continues—only the son’s body is, in an incomprehensible way, occupied by a contemporary man.
