The Chernyshov Family

Alexandrina Chernyshova was a deeply religious woman, and when one of the Decembrists jokingly asked her which she loved more—God or her husband—she answered seriously: «I think the Lord God won’t hold it against me if He finds out that I love my little Nikitushka more.» And she proved it by following Nikita into Siberia. Her brother, Zakhar, ended up there as well. He had been condemned because his distant relative—a member of the Investigative Committee—did everything possible to get hold of his richest estates.
