Description
Britain. Hot summer of 1939.

The country prepares for war, but on a coastal farm in Suffolk, there are matters of a different kind—Edith Pretty, a widow, suspects that treasures are hidden on land belonging to her at Sutton Hoo. In an attempt to confirm it, the woman organizes archaeological digs on her property. She turns to an experienced archaeologist, Basil Brown, for help. Soon it turns out that valuable finds truly lie buried on Mrs. Pretty’s land. A young student, Peggy Piggott, joins them. She and her husband can’t wait to take part in the excavations and learn what else is hidden deep in the mound. Three months of hard work amid rising national excitement confirmed the suspicions: in Sutton Hoo, indeed, a unique object is buried—an echo of Britain’s history that radically changes how we view the past and the future.
