Patsy Rodenburg tells in her book about such an important human quality as presence. The author argues that this natural state of a person implies the ability to build relationships with maximum attention, openness, contact—giving and receiving. She also highlights two other states that represent non-presence; together they form three images of communication, or three “circles.” Patsy explains in detail why presence is necessary for health. In this state, a person is more attentive to others, their reactions become faster, they can determine boundaries of safety, avoid unpleasant situations, and create healthy relationships. Her method for developing presence is based on years of experience teaching acting; it includes work with the body, breathing, and voice and is widely used in all fields and professions. It has a high potential to truly change people’s lives for the better.
