A psychological tale with a criminally thrilling plot. The hero, David, is an intellectual and a journalist—unfortunately, he lacks literary talent, which makes life miserable for a vain man. A chance meeting between the journalist and a New York homeless man named Martin—an immigrant from the Czech Republic—awakens in David an uncontrollable envy of the writer’s talent of an alcoholic and drug addict who entrusted David with his “notes.”
Unable to resist the temptation to become a literary celebrity, David kills the homeless, unknown Martin and takes possession of the coveted manuscript… However, the classic plot under the author’s pen gains a special uniqueness, along with its moral-philosophical depth.
