The first clash of the 1854 Baltic campaign ended in success, but the main test is only beginning. Bomarsund—the gateway to the Baltic Sea—must remain Russian! The battle for the Åland Islands will be the first serious exam for the restored Russian Marine Corps and a new step for the former contemporary, now the Admiral General of the Imperial Navy. The sailors must stop the predatory raids of the British “Flying Squadron” and hold the main naval fortress of the central Baltic.
