Humankind, bound by the framework of fascism and subjecting itself to selection by genetic traits, is slowly degenerating. The elite, entrenched in their power, indulges in vices and amusements. The lower classes, which did not undergo selection and have no rights, have been reduced to the status of slaves—but they don’t realize it, because most of their lives they spend in virtual reality, and that suits them perfectly. The middle class—engineers and specialists—wants nothing new, and virtual reality is spreading rapidly among them too. There is only a small group of armed extremists who want change, but neither the middle class nor the lower ranks supports them; their war against the elite is only a coup carried out by part of the ruling class for its own interests. Humankind’s level of technical development is also rapidly degrading. Life after the neo-humans is a dead end with no way out.
Sergey, knowing of a possible future, decides to resist the neo-humans by force, whose actions preparing for an armed coup are already at the finish line. As it turns out, Sergey’s telepathic abilities—acquired on Elya—stayed with him on Earth. He can pass these abilities on to other people. They work like this: a person with telepathy can read others’ thoughts and guess their evil intentions, and a telepathic woman can choose a genetically sound man. Sergey decided that evil can only be defeated by greater evil. He finds like-minded people, forms his armed squads, and mercilessly exterminates both neo-human combat units and corrupt officials, drug dealers, and so on. In just a few bloody weeks, the neo-humans are almost wiped out—but Sergey and his fighters, through their actions, have placed themselves outside the law. A trial takes place to decide their fate as a group responsible for mass murder of people (even if criminals) and for bringing into humankind a new telepathic ability.
