This story is set in a world where everything on the earth was destroyed by mysterious beings, and the remnants of the past races live on floating islands. Long ago, there was a race of people known among others as Emnetwait. They waged wars with other races—such as orcs, elves, and even dragons. The fight was helped by holy blades, which only the chosen could wield. But this struggle lasted only until the time when the Seventeen Beasts appeared in the world: they quickly wiped out humanity and then set about other races too. Because of that, the few survivors had no choice but to move to the floating islands they created, which later came to be called the “Regul Air Archipelago.” The remnants of the past races believed it was people who were to blame for the catastrophe, though no reliable data from those times has survived. Five hundred years later it turned out that one person had survived—Willem. Now he lives among representatives of other races that humanity once fought against. Soon he is tasked with looking after the faeries. Among all who live on the Archipelago, only they can use the heritage of Emnetwait—the holy blades, the only weapon that can cause any meaningful damage to the Beasts.
