Until the very end, Leon considered himself a sensible, rational person. He didn’t marry or have children; he worked only for himself, didn’t get into debt. He kept away from politics and any trouble. And then he died, falling into an elevator shaft. Now Leon is trapped in the body of a seventeen-year-old, Platon Versky—and he has the Gift of controlling the dead. But Platon couldn’t develop this Gift, because his family line was destroyed, and the teenager is hiding in the wilderness from unknown persecutors. Of his relatives, only an addled surviving grandfather—who isn’t really his grandfather at all. In his dreams, Leon is visited by a Mad Little Ferret (Enotiki), who helps him advance his magical skills. The ferret has a name—Tёma. He keeps erasing something all the time.
