In 1951, in Pskov, the body of a local hooligan nicknamed Kroha was discovered near the railway station. His death was caused by a severe blow to the temple. The head of the Operations Department, Major Pavel Zverev, first assumed it was the result of a fight between hooligans. However, during an examination of Kroha’s body, a suitcase was found containing counterfeit high-quality ruble coins. This prompted Zverev to begin an investigation—without suspecting what dark story led to the death of this man on the railway tracks.
