Description
Vera Polozkova is one of the most sought-after contemporary poets, a true cultural hero of her generation, a phenomenon of the modern stage—a poet with her own band, gathering full concert halls across the country. In a year, Vera and her musicians gave about 60 concerts in Russia and Ukraine. She is the author of two poetry collections, a cult Runet blogger, and one of the first laureates of the new Russian literary award "Neformat," given to young authors for "offering new creative forms." On June 8, 2011, the debut demo album "The Sign of Inequality" was released, and within its very first week of online sales it took first place in number of downloads on the website muz/dot/ru. This record was not released on a physical medium, since from the very beginning it was presented as a "first attempt." Throughout 2012, the musicians reworked the arrangements of the tracks from "The Sign of Inequality" and wrote material for the second part of the dilogy—"The Sign of Equality." Now the double album has been released on physical media. The album presentation took place on November 6, 2012, at the Vladimir Mayakovsky Moscow Academic Theatre with the support of the Moscow Department of Culture. For the first time in the 90-year history of this theater, a real rock concert took place on its stage! Nearly a thousand people gathered in the theater that evening. A completely unprecedented success for an unusual project! "The Sign of Non/Equality" is a worthy result of two years of the project’s work, a kind of address to the public with poetry one wants to listen to again and again and again.
