In search of shelter from a sudden storm, a young traveler, Arthur Severn, finds refuge in an inn in a small Irish town. Learning about a legend of an ancient treasure in these parts, he decides to stay and investigate the surroundings. However, he discovers he isn’t the only one who believes in this legend. Black Merdock—a cruel trader and moneylender—also seeks the treasure and has no intention of sharing it with competitors.
