The Serpent Prince

The dizzying adventures of the Dutch prince Mal begin with a meeting with the beautiful Margareta. She is a French princess—the younger sister of the woman who will become his future bride—and it is for her that he refuses the wedding and sets off on a path of wandering. He sails away with her to Egypt, which enrages two rulers at once. A chase begins for the fugitives. The ship on which Mal and Margareta are traveling is captured by pirates commanded by Captain Oceano. He becomes a new friend of the in-love couple and throws off the robber crew in order to accompany them. Together, they flee from the pirate ship. And then true miracles begin: a boat is drawn to the shore of land not marked on any maps—Snake Island—where an ancient monster lives: a dragon.
