Once Upon a Time, Twice Upon a Time

Seventeen-year-old Julie disappears without a trace in March 2008, leaving a bicycle propped against a tree on a steep slope. Julie’s disappearance shocks Sagas, the town lost in the Savoy Alps. Julie’s father, Lieutenant Gabriel Moscato, in a desperate attempt to find his daughter, rushes along her trail. After a month of fruitless searches, he ends up at the “By the Rock” hotel. Taking a registration journal from the owner, he goes to room 29 on the third floor. Sometime in the middle of the night, he suddenly wakes up to dull thuds on the window… Outside it’s raining dead birds. There are no of his things, and no phone in the room. And generally—it’s a different room, on a different floor. Looking into the mirror, he does not recognize himself, but learns from the receptionist that it is 2020 outside, and that his daughter has still not been found…

And exactly on this day, as if repeating a terrible film, in the morning on the riverbank they find the body of a young woman. And then, twelve years later—twelve years late—begins a new investigation.
