The Beast of Gévaudan

France, the second half of the 18th century. In the province of Gevaudan, a terrifying creature appears—called the Beast by the locals. It mercilessly kills women and children. The death toll is already in the hundreds. The Beast seems elusive: it slips away from numerous raids, bullets don’t take it, and it disappears as suddenly as it appears. Only a few survivors are able to describe its appearance.
