Description
A merchant’s daughter with a good dowry—left to her after her mother and father’s death—really wants to get married. But there are no familiar men nearby who are ready to wed. In such situations, people turn to a professional matchmaker. In the story written by the famous Russian writer Nikolai Gogol, the matchmaker Fekla is anything but ordinary. She is at once a “psychologist,” a “trader,” a “friend,” and—depending on how the situation develops—“a real mother.” And so, with her efforts, she manages to gather as many as four suitors, and on one fine day they all come to meet her with serious intentions… That’s where the whole story begins…
