Scotland, 17th century. Catherine Linden, the daughter of an English earl, is married off to an unknown Scottish laird—Douglas McGillan. Each side pursues its own goal: the earl gets a chance at a splendid match for his younger daughter, while Douglas is promised a noble title. Now Catherine must overcome the hostility of proud people and win her husband’s trust, melt the ice in his heart, and win him over. But can the gloomy Scot nicknamed Thistle open up to a stranger and understand that only love can destroy every barrier?
