In the times before slavery was abolished, there was no place where slavery was as brutal as in the lower reaches of the Mississippi, known as “the Coast.” This was especially true for the state of Mississippi. On large cotton and tobacco plantations, many owners didn’t show up for months, leaving management to overseers—people who were irresponsible and, in many cases, cruel.
Blue Dick, a mulatto slave, after another unjust punishment, hides from his owners and vows to take revenge. Having become the leader of a band of Indians, he strikes terror into the surrounding area with his robber raids. Soon, the former owners find themselves in his hands.
