McCorcle returned to the States, opened a new saloon “At Mac’s,” this time in Washington, and along with that brought his reliable staff from Germany and his wife. Life seemed to be getting better—only one thing worried him: Padillo never made himself known, and McCorcle terribly missed his friend.
