Michael is grieving the death of his best friend, who committed suicide, and he can’t shake the feeling of guilt for what happened. Neither his passion for painting nor love helps him cope with the loss until he becomes captivated by an unusual attachment to the deceased friend’s sister. Although she is considered mentally unwell, to him she seems the sanest of all the people he knows.
Michael plunges into a chaotic life filled with late-night parties and casual relationships. But the past reminds him of itself through an unclear image of a girl who once disappeared from the boarding school where he studied. Despite the police’s unsuccessful efforts—they found neither evidence nor suspects—the missing girl’s family hires a private detective. He is determined to dig for the truth, even if it costs him his life.
