Our time. A view from 1962. London under the rule of teenage gangs. Violence has become one of the sports. For the young, nothing remains sacred, or even simply respected. Against this grim background unfolds the story of Alex—the leader of one of the youth gangs. An ordinary teenager, the natural product of society. He delights in murder, robbery, and senseless vandalism. But he has one little quirk—he loves and values classical music very much. And in the end this uncharacteristic passion plays a cruel joke on him.
The novel brought Anthony Burgess worldwide fame. And in 1971 the great Stanley Kubrick adapted the novel for the screen. The film based on A Clockwork Orange became a classic of world cinema.
