Shortlist of the Children’s and Teen Book Contest.
A little bear cub, Grisha, lives in the Arctic, on the White Shore, with his parents Glafira and Gleb. Grisha loves listening to bedtime stories his mother reads to him. And when all the books that are in the bears’ house have been read, Grisha gets upset—until his father promises to buy him a new, very interesting fairy tale. The very next evening, his father brings a new book, and Grisha, holding his breath, listens to a story about four friends who live on the Magic Meadow and their adventures. He becomes so engrossed in the plot and grows attached to the main characters that he promises himself he will find them. He sets off alone to look for the place where, as he thinks, the heroes of the book live.
Further adventures—where Grisha and his friends end up—are interesting, fun, and sometimes even dangerous. The book teaches little ones to love their neighbors, to value justice and kindness, and to help one another.
