Novgorod land, the 17th century—a wild, undeveloped place where the most terrible legends and tales become reality, and the End of the World is expected as salvation. Here, demons buy souls; werewolves break gates; sorcerers create creatures out of pieces of human bodies. Rumors spread about an upcoming war, and life is worth no broken гроша. The forests swarm with the unclean; on abandoned cemeteries the dead rise; ancient burial mounds hide countless treasures; roads are soaked in blood; and from the sky the ugly moon grins, bringing ruin and plague.

And in such a mad world, a fitting hero is needed. Meet Ruh Butila, a killer, a villain, a rogue—and a little bit of a saint. A winner of the weak, a defender of monsters, a hunter of sweet little widows with the motto: “Anyone but me.” The last hope in the face of descending darkness. A damned by God and people vampire.
