“Your Eyes Have Seen My Fetus. A Love Story” is the first book of the trilogy “CoDекс 1962” (CoDex 1962) by one of the most original writers of modern Iceland—Sjón. The story takes place during World War II in a small German town, Kükenshtadt. In a local hotel, a half-dead fugitive unexpectedly appears—escaped from a concentration camp. In his hands he has a hatbox containing special clay, a unique mix from which a child will be molded. The fugitive is hidden in a secret room of the hotel, where he is cared for by the maid, Marie-Sophie. The book has been translated into thirteen languages.
