Notes of a Young Doctor is a cycle of stories by Mikhail Bulgakov, created in the first half of the 1920s. It is based on the medical practice of the writer himself, who graduated from the medical faculty of Kyiv University in 1916 and worked as a doctor for four years. The disk also contains the autobiographical story “Morphine,” traditionally published together with the cycle.

“I’m not guilty of anything, I kept insisting to myself and it was tormenting me. I have a house. I have fifteen A’s. I warned them even in that big city that I wanted to go as a second doctor. No. They smiled and said: ‘You’ll get used to it. So you’ll settle in. And if they bring you a hernia? Explain how I’ll get used to it with my hands. And especially, how will the patient with a hernia feel under my care?’ He’ll settle in the other world (here I get cold along my spine)… Bulgakov M.A. ‘A Towel with a Rooster’ (‘Notes of a Young Doctor’).
