Author of this book Anatoly Petrovich Grafov lost his sight while studying in his fourth year at Tomsk State University. The institute he graduated from while blind. From 1966 to 1993 he worked as the director of the Novosibirsk training-and-production enterprise of the All-Russian Society of the Blind. During those years, the Novosibirsk enterprise of the All-Russian Society of the Blind transformed from a small workshop into a highly profitable industrial enterprise—a mid-sized plant with a high level of production culture and developed social infrastructure.
Alongside production-and-economic work, Anatoly Grafov dealt with issues of adult typhlopedagogy and certain psychological aspects connected with it. He completed postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Defectology of the Leningrad Pedagogical Institute.
