Hostages to Fortune

December 1348. Everything around is under the power of the plague. Brothers John and William fear they will soon die and burn in hell for their sins. But when they have only 6 days left until death, they are given an unexpected choice: go home and spend the rest of their lives in the familiar world—or try to find salvation in the coming centuries, living each of their remaining days ninety-nine years after the previous one.
