Yushka

Andrei Platonov is often called the “Russian Kafka.” Indeed, as in Kafka’s texts, his prose contains a great deal of grotesque and even, at times, deliberate literary absurdity, which makes it quite difficult for readers to take in. But not all of Platonov’s works are like that. In 1935, the author of the stylistically complex "The Foundation Pit" and "Chevengur" wrote a simple and extraordinarily touching story, "Yushka."
