A collection of stories by modern writers about the Great Patriotic War. On May 9 this year we celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the end of the war that was the most terrible and most blood-drenched for us. Exactly for us—because we are descendants of those who did not return, who reached Berlin, Königsberg, and Prague, who with their life and their death gave us a chance to grieve and laugh, to work and raise children. They fulfilled their soldier’s duty.
Each year there are fewer and fewer veterans, and now our duty is to preserve and pass on to children and grandchildren the memory of them—so that it will live on. Because as soon as this memory disappears, the war will have a chance to return.
The implementation of this project—which can safely be called international—was carried out by a group of enthusiasts living not only in the cities of Russia, but also beyond its borders.
As for the collection itself: it is in a sense divided into two parts.
The first tells about searchers, describing how and why they search for the fallen, what interferes with them or, on the contrary, helps them in their difficult work.
The second includes stories about the war—about veterans today.
