Description
Belarusian authors Alесь Adamovich, Yanka Bryl and Vladimir Kolesnik created a book that is a true testimony of its time: 147 villages, 35 districts, and over 300 cassette recordings of stories by people who experienced the tragedy firsthand.
“From the Fiery Village” is a documentary collection of memoirs about how the fascists destroyed Belarusian villages and about the partisan struggle during the Great Patriotic War. The materials were collected and prepared by Alесь Adamovich, Vladimir Kolesnik and Yanka Bryl.
The edition includes only accounts from those who themselves survived the burning of villages, the death of loved ones and neighbors. In 1970–1973, the writers traveled throughout Belarus with a tape recorder, visited 147 villages in 35 districts, and recorded more than 300 testimonies from direct eyewitnesses.
