Since Austrian psychologist Sigmund Freud began developing his theory of psychoanalysis, more than a century has passed. Since then, many new theories have emerged and a huge amount of practical material has been accumulated. But an understanding of the fundamentals and essence of psychoanalysis is still possible only after becoming acquainted with the works of its founder.
This edition presents three works by Sigmund Freud. ““The Ego and the Id””—without exaggeration, is a revolution in psychiatry and psychology formulated in theses, based on a new structural model of the psyche consisting of three components: “the Id,” “the Ego,” and “the Superego.” An analysis of society and civilization, and the rivalry between religion and a scientific worldview, is given in the article “The Future of an Illusion.” Its development was the work “A Man Named Moses and Monotheistic Religion,” whose main ideas are also presented in this edition.
