Andrey Valetinovich Zhvalevsky and Evgeniya Borisovna Pasternak are a successful writing duo and winners of many literary awards. Along with interesting fantasy plots, the authors often raise sharp social issues connected with the problems of children and teenagers, and ask important questions for them. The novel “If I Were You” tells about an urgent family problem—misunderstanding that arises between parents who rely on their own experience and children who live already in a different, changed world.
Often adults dictate to teenagers what to do, trying to impose their ideas about what should interest the kids and how they should behave in a given situation. But they don’t always understand the specific circumstances deeply enough. Relying on parents’ experience is, of course, a good thing, but without one’s own experience it’s impossible.
That’s what the novel is about—by two authors our listeners already know well.
