The Civil War is at an end. The family of nomadic Roma women tries to escape from Zadonye, gripped by Cossack rebellions. Roma woman Simka, falling in love with a man from Chisinau, Berkulо, leaves with him from her native camp. Fleeing the pursuit, the lovers jump into a train car of a soldiers’ echelon rushing toward the war. But in the morning, Berkulо wakes up alone. At night, his fiancée ran off with a Red Army—Roma—man… What made Simka treat her beloved this way? Will they meet again with Berkulо?
