I desperately needed to get into the witch courses. And, by a cruel mockery of fate, admission required a dragon husband—even if he was only pretend. For at least a little while.
I pulled off a flawless scam: I lulled the winged beauty to sleep, arranged a marriage with him at a roadside chapel, and vanished at once, leaving a note with clear instructions: “The marriage is fictitious—no claims, don’t look for me.”
The plan was perfect. Almost.
Because I forgot one small detail: dragons don’t take offense lightly. And my “sleeping beauty” suddenly woke up. Now he’s following my trail, and I have no idea what awaits me—his wrath, or a new marriage proposal?
Honestly, I’m starting to think it’s the second one. And, it seems, that doesn’t frighten me at all.
