Aimee Ro’s mother and father are from Korea, but she herself grew up in Canada. Like her seventeen-year-old peers, she goes to school, has fun with friends, and wonders what awaits her in the future. This question scares the girl for real, because since childhood she has suffered from a very rare disease—SCTIV, the Sensual Time Distortion Syndrome. After inhaling a scent connected to a particular memory, Aimee disappears from the present and is transported back in time to that memory. Unable to change or intervene, she can only watch her past actions, and then she appears in the present again. But even more than SCTIV itself, Aimee fears that the same illness may have trapped her mother in the past—when her mother disappeared more than ten years ago. Now, to stop being afraid of living, Aimee must go to her parents’ homeland and learn the truth about her mother, her father… and about herself.
