Today we’re with interest learning the meaning of Celtic and Germanic gods, studying the myths of these peoples—yet we treat our own Slavic gods with surprisingly cold indifference. Perhaps it’s because, according to popular belief, Slavic myths didn’t exist at all. However, even to this day there have survived various fragments of Old Slavic mythology, passed down to us in folk songs, traditions, and legends. This audiobook gathers the oldest Slavic legends that were told from mouth to mouth, from generation to generation, long before our ancestors had writing. Later, myths and legends were replaced by historical facts, and many Slavic kingdoms emerged.
