Danil Granin’s new book will surprise the listener. It has no concrete plot or main character; the chronology is intentionally broken; stories alternate with brief notes and the author’s memories; the funny is interwoven with the tragic, and the complex with the simple. All the generally accepted norms are violated, but listening to the audiobook is, nonetheless, wildly fascinating. Because from separate stories, thoughts, and emotions of the author a vivid picture emerged—contradictory and ambiguous, like life itself.
