The Time of Beautiful People

Yesterday, the residents of peaceful Belgrade drank coffee, discussed football matches, and chatted with their neighbors in turn at the supermarkets. Today they are ready to kill each other: some for an idea, and others for profit. Divided by a river, the city is engulfed by a military coup overnight. While on one bank a harsh dictatorship is being installed, on the other rampage looters and armed gangs.

Five strangers join forces to survive the jaws of civil war and make their way to where, according to rumors, there is a safe corridor. The former war journalist, the disgraced skinhead, a professional kept woman, a tango teacher, and an elderly woman with dementia have nothing in common. And yet they are forced to fight—for the city to live, and for each other—for leadership. But fighting becomes even harder when they also have to battle the ghosts of their past.
