This is a bold experiment in children’s literature: the author abandons the usual role of a mentor and becomes a partner in children’s pranks. In each poem, he “seriously” suggests that the little reader should act contrary to all the rules of good manners: not to greet, not to share, not to listen to adults. But the paradox is that, following the witty rhyme, the child inevitably arrives at the opposite conclusion. The absurdity of the advice is so obvious that it sparks not a desire to follow it, but a smile and an understanding of how ridiculous whims and stubbornness look.
