Lida is a marine geologist who works at an R&D institute in Saint Petersburg, and one day she is sent on a multi-month expedition to the Arctic to study the ocean floor. She will have to arrange everyday life in a small cabin aboard a huge ship among unfamiliar people—and often not the closest in spirit. Simply being here is perceived as overcoming and testing oneself, and even the most routine actions become a daily adventure.
“Eighty degrees” is a story about human strength and weakness, the ability to remain yourself and adapt to circumstances: during the expedition, the listener, along with the heroine, will come to realize that one thing does not exclude the other.
