Aphrodite and her husband Savvas open “Sunrise,” the most luxurious hotel in Famagusta, where Greeks and Turks work peacefully side by side. Seeking to escape interethnic hostility, two families move to Famagusta— the Greek Georgiou family and the Turkish Yozkan family. Their homes are next to each other, and the families quickly become friends.
However, beneath the glossy surface of a calm life, tension is felt in the city. Under the pretext of protecting Turkish Cypriots, Turkish troops invade the island, plunging the country into chaos. Almost all residents leave Famagusta, and only two families—Georgiou and Yozkan—remain in the ruined, looted city, finding shelter in the abandoned owners’ hotel “Sunrise.”
Trying to survive in inhuman conditions, they fight hunger, fear, and their own prejudices.
