In terms of artistic structure, the novel "Waves" is the most unusual work in the creative output of the English writer Virginia Woolf. First published in 1931, it consists of the monologues of six book characters: Bernard, Susan, Rhoda, Neville, Jinny, and Louis. Six people who love and hate each other, who sometimes feel that they are all one person. Everyone is searching for their place in the world, searching for their happiness. The monologues are interspersed with nine short third-person interludes describing a seaside scene at different times of day—from dawn to sunset.
